happy thanksgiving!

even though today was just another normal work day for me and i wasn't able to celebrate thanksgiving like i always have, it was a special day. i went to eat dinner at moonriver diner (it's pretty much the only place in all of china to get a dr. pepper!) and had a "traditional" thanksgiving dinner with some close friends. we enjoyed our dinner and just sat around talking about all the things we are truly thankful for. one thing we all agreed on is that we are thankful that Father is sovereign and has specific plans for all of us. even though sometimes, well, most of the time, we can't see or understand what His plans are, we can continue to walk in faith and trust Him to fulfill the promises He's given us. it's hard being away from everything that is familiar...family, friends, culture, food, language...but it 's comforting knowing that no matter where we are, He always holds us in His hands!

me, audra, russ, and melinda

mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, sweet potatoes,
cranberry sauce, turkey, and
gravy...all piled up.
it doesn't look very good, but it sure tasted yummy!

Hey Donna,

Looks like a great meal to me. I am working in New York and was also unable to schedule going home for Thanksgiving. As you know I had my heart attack here in September but the Father has made it possible to return to work. I wanted to tell you how excited Amy was to see you when you returned. And thanks also for calling to check on my health.
Your attitude in your current situation is so refreshing and a remainder how your knowledge of the Father transforms each and every situation.
As for your fondness of running. I personnel think you have a lose screw. Because as part of my punishment for having a heart attack the Father has allowed me the opportunity to exercise. I said a bad word. So I try to find a treadmill or exercise bike and work out each day (except weekends) for around thirty minutes. The other thing, no more rack of lamb.

Anyway we love you and keep writing on your blog.

It seems like you are doing some awesome things in China! Thank you for your post! My biggest prayer need right now is just for God to prepare my heart for being away and for the people that I am supposed to love while I am there!
