have yourself a merry little christmas
christmas is at my house this year! it's weird to say that for a few reasons. one being that i have my own house (well, it's actually an apartment, but since everybody over here in china lives in an apartment, they call it a house). it's also kinda strange to say that i'm having christmas because this is the first time i have ever hosted a big holiday. my roommate and i are excited that more than 20 of our friends (Chinese and American) will be joining us this christmas!
we're still trying to figure out what to serve for dinner...right now the plan is to buy a ham, but you never really know what's gonna be available when you get to the store. so, the back up plan is going to be Papa John's! cooking is alwyas a challenge here...not only are ingredients hard to find, but the only oven we have is a small toaster oven. haha...one friend is planning on bringing her toaster oven over to help us cook! anyway, it'll be interesting. if you have any ideas or simple recipies that we could use, please share them.
even though i will really miss my family this christmas, i am really excited about our own little christmas celebration here in china. we're planning on singing some christmas carols and reading the christmas story. (every year my dad reads the story of the birth of Christ on christmas morning, and this is one tradtion that i definitely want to continue...) what is your favorite christmas tradition?
