have yourself a merry little christmas
christmas is at my house this year! it's weird to say that for a few reasons. one being that i have my own house (well, it's actually an apartment, but since everybody over here in china lives in an apartment, they call it a house). it's also kinda strange to say that i'm having christmas because this is the first time i have ever hosted a big holiday. my roommate and i are excited that more than 20 of our friends (Chinese and American) will be joining us this christmas!
we're still trying to figure out what to serve for dinner...right now the plan is to buy a ham, but you never really know what's gonna be available when you get to the store. so, the back up plan is going to be Papa John's! cooking is alwyas a challenge here...not only are ingredients hard to find, but the only oven we have is a small toaster oven. haha...one friend is planning on bringing her toaster oven over to help us cook! anyway, it'll be interesting. if you have any ideas or simple recipies that we could use, please share them.
even though i will really miss my family this christmas, i am really excited about our own little christmas celebration here in china. we're planning on singing some christmas carols and reading the christmas story. (every year my dad reads the story of the birth of Christ on christmas morning, and this is one tradtion that i definitely want to continue...) what is your favorite christmas tradition?

Merry Christmas, well we hope you are having an awesome time and a great Christmas over there. We miss you over here and we are ready for you to be back, even more now that you have so many pregnant friends who would love to have a babysitter.... just joking. Anyway, merry christmas.

I didn't realise that it meant that much to you. Merry Christmas.
Love Dad
so, funny story. i almost called the radio station to talk about the tradition of dad reading the story of christmas because they were asking for family traditions, then you put it on here and i just talked to dad and he said he'd read this. he doesn't realize how much of a tradition that is for us and how important it is. well, i have to pack because i am flying out tomorrow. i miss you so much, donna. it makes me want to cry. i love you and i really can't wait til you get back so we can have some more fomowhacka moments at sonic while we're light-leaded...and i love how that's only funny to us. noone else would get it and they probably think we're retarded, but it's still funny. i love you.

Hey girl! Hope your Christmas turned out wonderful. The food stuff isn't the most important anyway...We missed seeing you for Christmas but I am so glad you were where God wants you to be. Got your message about getting our package...good deal and I hope it brought a little more Christmas to you there in China. I love you and miss you!
