Ms. Helfer
I met the students that I will be teaching come Monday. I was substituting for their current teacher. Anyway, just wanted to share a few funny things with you.
One student, Annie, has only begun to learn English. She is a very sweet girl from Korea. Well, when class was over today, I was standing at the door saying goodbye to the students and Annie came and stood right next to me. She was just looking at me and smiling, not really saying much. Once most of the students were gone, I turned to her and smiled. She smiled back and asked if she could touch my hair...LOL! So then she, and a few other girls, started playing with my hair and saying things like "it's so soft, my hair is rough." It was hard to keep from laughing :)
Another student, asked if I was nervous about teaching. So I said, "No, are you nervous about being a student?"
A few of the students asked for my email address, so I gave them my email address at the school. Then one of the boys said, "Do you have any hotmail accounts?" Haha, I'm not really sure why 5th graders need my email address, but they sure were eager to ask for it!
I am really looking forward to what the next few months hold. I am excited about getting to know my students better and hopefully I will have many more funny stories to share!
