A Trip to Nanjing

In early December I took a weekend trip to Nanjing with a couple of friends. We rode the train to Nanjing and then did some sight-seeing. Nanjing was one of the six ancient capitals of China. Before China was established as The People's Republic of China, Nanjing was China's political and cultural center. In 1937, the Japanese invaded Nanjing and killed more than 300,000 people. We didn't get to see the Nanjing Massacre Memorial because it was under construction, but it was still interesting to see the city.

Me and Jewel by the giant turtle.

Jewel likes jumping pictures...so we took a jumping picture!

Our little group at one of the city walls.

Of course all the foreigners have to play dress up...so here I am dressed up in a Japanese kimono.

He's holding a duck head...a Nanjing delicacy.
I actually ate the brain of one of those things!
